Drivers are fuming over a proposal to jack up parking rates at municipal garages.
Motorists across the city have been sent letters from the Department of Transportation warning their rates will increase by Jan. 1.
“That’s like robbery without having a gun,” said Bronx resident Robert Jones, who parks in a lot on White Plains Road lot near his apartment. His rate will increase from $165 for three months to $350.
Councilman James Vacca (D-Bronx), who chairs the Transportation Committee, said the increases will not take effect until March 1.
