Jacobs: I’m ‘rotting away’ in SF

Brandon Jacobs is becoming even more frustrated with his limited role for the 49ers. The former Giants running back spends approximately 20 minutes before games punching the goal-post padding. He says it is his way of dealing with the situation.

On Saturday, the former Giants running back said via Instagram he is “on this team rotting away” while referring to his first season with the Niners as his “worst” yet during an eight-year career that included seven with the Giants.

In recent days, he posted a series of photos of himself playing for the Giants — and even a picture of his two Super Bowl championship rings, side by side.

“I am on this team rotting away, so why would I wanna put any pics up of anything that say niners?” said Jacobs, who was hampered by a knee injury earlier this season. “This is by far the worst year I ever had, I’ll tell you like I told plenty others.”

Jacobs, 30, has five carries for seven yards while being active for only two games with the NFC West-leading Niners (9-3-1), who beat the Dolphins 27-13 yesterday. He plays behind Frank Gore, Anthony Dixon and rookie LaMichael James.

Against Miami (5-8), Gore ran for a touchdown and reached 1,000 yards rushing for the sixth time in career.

NFL sacks leader Aldon Smith added two more to his total for 19 1/2 , passing Fred Dean’s franchise-best single-season mark of 17 1/2 set in 1983. Smith also moved within three sacks of Michael Strahan’s seasonal NFL record set in 2001 with the Giants.

Rams 15, Bills 12

In Orchard Park, Sam Bradford threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Gibson with 48 seconds left to lift the Rams (6-6-1).

The Bills (5-8) blew a lead in the final minute of the fourth quarter for the second time this season. They squandered a six-point lead in a 35-34 loss to Tennessee on Oct. 21.
