Walk talks at Republic

Former Epic Records President Charlie Walk is in talks about returning to the music business, The Post has learned. They are at an early stage, sources cautioned, and could fall apart.

Walk is discussing a possible post at Universal Music Group’s Republic Records — likely running promotions, sources said.

Republic, run by Monte Lipman, distributes artists such as Taylor Swift and represents acts including Jessie J. and Cash Money.

The move is surprising because Walk, who shepherded the careers of Latin pop star Shakira, Jessica Simpson and singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield, left his Sony-owned Epic job in 2009.

A Universal spokesman declined to comment and Walk couldn’t be reached for comment.
