TV’s favorite shrink is riding high again.
Dr. Phil McGraw, whose gleaming 1957 Chevy Bel Air was jacked from Rodz repair shop in Southern California last August, has been reunited with his vintage car.
The ripped-off ride was discovered Tuesday in Los Angeles by detectives from the Taskforce for Regional Autotheft Prevention, which has been investigating a slew of classic-car thefts in the area. At least 14 old-school automobiles have recently been recovered by the team, who said thieves have been hitting up hot rod shops. So far, cops have arrested four suspects believed to be part of a ring targeting Chevy Impalas and Bel Air models, according to TRAP lieutenant Dominic Valencia.
Dr. Phil didn’t think he’d ever see the black convertible again and was thrilled to have it back, with only some minor damage to the body.
“I can’t say enough about the LA County Sheriff’s Department and of the LAPD Trap West — particularly, Det. George Molina. Their tireless efforts and hard work resulted in the intact recovery of my car and the arrest of some prolific car thieves,” he said in a statement.
“Many thought that my ’57 Chevy was just a memory, but I had faith in LA’s finest. This is just one more in a really long line of reasons that I am and always have been a passionate and outspoken supporter of our men and women in law enforcement.”
