‘Deadfall’ review

Beats me why anyone would want to basically remake “Reindeer Games,” a costly Ben Affleck flop from a decade ago that was John Frankenheimer’s final, unfortunate effort as a director of theatrical movies.

Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky (“The Counterfeiters”) has lined up a high-octane cast for this lower-budget, but no more thrilling tale of siblings (Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde) who hold up a casino but are forced to split up after a violent car crash.

Wilde gets picked up by — and seduces — a guy (Charlie Hunnam) unlucky enough to encounter her on the way to Thanksgiving dinner with his parents (Sissy Spacek, Kris Kristofferson).

Bana, meanwhile, metes out impromptu justice in the wilds of Michigan while stumbling around with a newly missing finger, all the while trying to elude a state trooper (Kate Mara) with a misogynist boss who also happens to be her dad (Treat Williams).

There’s nothing you haven’t seen before — and better — in “Deadfall,” which would seem to appeal mostly to fans of snowmobile chases.
