Say howdy to the new King of Talk TV.
Dr. Phil has officially taken over for Oprah as TV’s No. 1 talk-show host, but he’s half the star Oprah used to be.
Just-released ratings for the November sweeps show that the TV shrink is on top with an average audience of 4.3 million viewers a day.
When Oprah left the air last year, her audience was about twice as large.
It’s another sign that the number of people watching daytime TV is shrinking fast.
“Live with Kelly and Michael” was No. 2 — but down from last year when Regis Philbin was leaving the show.
Katie Couric’s new show is way behind the leaders, but the best of the new shows, with about 2.53 million viewers a day, and growing.
