Weird But True

Weird but true

After cops busted a drunk dad for allegedly getting sauced at a bar — with his two kids locked in a car outside — he came up with a doozy of an excuse.

Jason Daniel Murray, 31, denied leaving the children and claimed “someone else must have put the kids in the car while he was inside,” cops in Broken Arrow, Okla., said.

Murray’s infant is just 5 months, and his 2-year-old has a heart defect and is awaiting surgery. Murray was booked on suspicion of child neglect and the kids are with their mom.

Not only do bedbugs want to get inside your home, some are learning how to build it.

Traces of the blood-suckers were found in architecture texts at a University of Washington library.

The Seattle school seized about 45 books and put them in a freezer in hopes of killing the pests. High heat also could have done the job, but librarians feared that could damage the books.

The Christmas spirit can even work miracles among thieves.

Someone who swiped a Salvation Army kettle earlier this month in Boardman, Ohio, felt so bad about it, he or she sent $130 and an apology note to the charity, cops said.

“Here is the money I took plus money for a new kettle and bell,” according to the note. “Please forgive me.”

When the University of West Virginia Mountaineers come to New York later this month for the Pinstripe Bowl, be on the lookout for an armed and dangerous man wearing a coonskin cap.

The team mascot, played by John Kimble, got into hot water with the school for using his university-issued musket to bring down a black bear. Video of the hunt ended up on YouTube and his Twitter feed.

While he broke no laws, the school and Kimble agreed he’ll never use that musket for anything other than celebrating the Mountaineers football and basketball teams.

There are fitness buffs — and then there’s this guy.

Springfield, Mass., cops are looking out for a jogger who has been spotted streaking through town naked.

The man in his 30s could be hit with open and gross lewdness charges if he’s ever caught, cops said.
