Eagles QB Vick: Giants are ‘team to beat’

One day after saying his Eagles are ready to become the NFL’s next dynasty, quarterback Michael Vick took a Giant step back.

The NFC East rival Giants are actually “the team to beat” this season, Vick said in a video interview posted on SI.com.

“I think any team that wins the Super Bowl is gonna be the team to beat,” he said. “They’re champions throughout until somebody else claims the throne.”

On Thursday, Vick said the Eagles were “in a special place” and have the “chance to develop a dynasty” in an interview with Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.

“When I look at our football team and what we have on paper, I think about when I was growing up and the great San Francisco 49er teams, the great Green Bay Packer teams, and the great Dallas Cowboy teams, how they just positioned themselves to compete and be one of the best teams out there,” Vick said.

Vick told SI.com that the immediate goal for the Eagles is not to win the Super Bowl, but to just make the postseason.

“I don’t think you can just aim for the Super Bowl and be happy,” Vick said. “I think you gotta set short-term goals which accumulate to long-term goals.”
