Heat advisory issued for the city, temperatures reach into the 90s

Another heat wave — the fourth this summer — has struck the city as temperatures are expected to sizzle for the next three days, officials said.

The National Weather Service has issued an extended heat advisory from 1 p.m. today until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures on Monday are expected to reach 92 degrees, but it will feel more like 96 degrees.

The normal temperature for this time of year is 84 degrees. The record for this day was 99 degrees set in 1980.

On Tuesday, temperatures will reach 95 degrees. Mixed with high humidity, it will feel like 100 degrees.

There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday. High humidity will again make it feel like 100.

Relief is expected to come on Thursday. Temperatures are forecast to be in the 80s. Pleasant weather is expected to continue through Sunday.
