Graphic theater scene cut from upcoming movie ‘Gangster Squad’

The consequences of the recent Colorado shooting continues to be felt in Hollywood.

The upcoming film “Gangster Squad” will omit a scene in which gangsters shoot up an unsuspecting audience in a crowded movie theatre, Variety reported.

The scene was prominently featured in the film’s trailer, which ran right before Thursday night’s screening of “The Dark Knight Rises,” until it was pulled from subsequent screenings given the recent tragedy.

Variety reports that the studio is taking extra steps in consideration of the 12 people killed and countless injured in the appalling massacre. The entire theater sequence of the film will be cut, and reshoot plans are being put in motion.

“Gangster Squad” is still scheduled to open in theatres Sept. 7.
