A Long Island Boy Scouts leader facing child-pornography charges was ordered held yesterday in lieu of $400,000 bond.
Edward Orenchuk III, 23, also pleaded not guilty to charges including promoting a sexual performance by a child, at his arraignment in Hempstead.
Prosecutors say Orenchuk, an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 243 arrested at his home in Garden City Wednesday, had hundreds of images of child porn on his computer.
He was represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on pending cases. The Boy Scouts say he was dropped once the group learned of the charges.
