Koch on the mend

He’s doin’ fine.

Former Mayor Ed Koch left the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center yesterday after a weeklong stay to combat a lung infection.

Koch left with a smile and said the first thing he planned to do was get a haircut and a shave to freshen up before heading back to work.

“He’s going to go the [law] office and then go home to get some rest,” said spokesman Fred Winters.

Tomorrow night, Koch will be feted in Gracie Mansion for his 88th birthday at a party hosted by Mayor Bloomberg. The bash will also serve as an annual reunion for members of his administration.

The ex-mayor was having lunch last Tuesday when someone noticed he looked unwell and suggested a medical visit. Doctors discovered the lung infection.
