Slow pokes! Crosstown buses on 42nd, 66th named slowest in town

Crosstown buses on 42nd and 66th streets are the slowest rides in Manhattan, according to a new report today.

The M42 and M66 won the infamous Pokey Award for the borough’s slowest bus route, tying at an average speed of 3.9 mph, the Straphangers Campaign announced.

That 3.9 mph trip is an upgrade from last year’s Manhattan Pokey winner, the M50 which was clocked in at a blazing 3.5 mph across 50th Street.

An average pedestrian can hoof at about 3.1 mph.

The slowest rides in outer boroughs were the B35 LTD [5.6 mph], Bx19 [4.9 mph], Q58 [7.0 mph] and S48 [8.1 mph].

The Schleppie Award — for a borough’s most unreliable bus line — went to the M4 in Manhattan.

The M4 fell behind its scheduled intervals 28.3 percent of the time, making it the island’s least reliable line.

The most off-schedule bus lines outside of Manhattan were the B15 [20.1 percent], Bx41 [21.8 percent] and S78 [25.8 percent].

There was no Schleppie awarded to any Queens bus line. The Straphangers Campaign sets a 20-percent minimum for Schleppie consideration, and no Queens line was late at that great a rate.
