Mayor Bloomberg proclaimed Ed Koch the top mayor of all time last night at a packed Gracie Mansion party.
“He’s the greatest mayor New York City had or ever will have,” Bloomberg told the audience of about 250 admirers, including many former Koch aides celebrating his 88th birthday.
The annual event drew more attention than usual because Koch had left the hospital just two days earlier after treatment for pneumonia.
Appearing more frail than usual, Koch nevertheless sat for photos with many of the guests.
