Expect snow tomorrow for NYC

The rain and wind is behind us — and tomorrow, we can expect snow.

It’s “pretty likely” the city will see the white stuff tomorrow, AccuWeather.com meteorologist Tom Kines said yesterday.

The forecast calls for one to three inches.

The flakes should start falling late morning or in the afternoon, he said. Expect highs in the mid-30s.

If the storm moves closer than expected, totals could hit three to six inches, Kines said.

“We’ll be ready,” said city Sanitation Department spokeswoman Kathy Dawkins. “Our first line of defense will be our salt spreaders. We have 365 of them.”

If more than two inches falls, she said, “we activate the plows.”

The city Department of Sanitation issued a snow alert, beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday. Under a snow alert, the agency begins readying its equipment.

Today it will be partly sunny with a high of 39.

Sunday will be “fairly decent” with sunshine and highs in the mid-30s, Kines said.

If you’re heading to Times Square on New Year’s Eve, temperatures will be around 30 when the ball starts dropping, he said.
