Hosp file revealed

The inspector general of municipal-hospital system has for the first time issued a public accounting of his cases, but only for this year.

IG Norman Dion notified the board of the Health and Hospitals Corp. last month that his office had received 1,147 complaints and had closed or made referrals in 286 cases as of Nov. 28.

But Dion’s three-page memo made no mention of how many pre-2012 cases remain open.

“That number is not available,” said HHC spokeswoman Ana Morengo.

HHC forced Dion to make the numbers available after The Post reported in October that a former supervisor in the IG’s Office asserted that 800 cases dating back as far as 2003 had never received proper scrutiny and were being kept open even though some of the investigators assigned to them had left years ago.

Dion responded that his open caseload was closer to 400, which he claimed is routine.
