Post’s Faris dies at 71

Peter Faris, a Post editorial manager who rose to become the paper’s executive vice president, died on Christmas Day in Henderson, Nev. He was 71.

The Dunedin, New Zealand, native succumbed after a short illness, wrote The Las Vegas Review-Journal.

He began as a copy boy at his hometown’s Evening Star and went on to work on papers in Auckland, New Zealand, and Sydney, Australia, before moving to New York in 1973 to work at the Sydney Morning Herald’s US bureau, where he met his wife, Jan. They married in 1978.

He later also worked for News Corp., The Post’s parent company, at Fox TV and the TV news show “A Current Affair.”

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Jordan, and his son, Zachary.
