A plainclothes cop in The Bronx shot a suspect yesterday after the driver plowed his car into the officer’s partner as they tried to question the man, police sources said.
Two cops approached the suspect’s 1994 Honda at 5 p.m. at Tremont and Grand avenues, sources said.
The driver suddenly sped off, striking one of the cops with his car.
The cops chased after the suspect, catching up to him about a block later where the cop fired, hitting the man in the leg.
The dark sedan continued on with police in pursuit.
“There were about 20 cop cars behind him,” said a witness.
The car eventually stopped when it hit a parked car about three miles away at Van Nest and Matthews avenues. Charges were pending.
The injured cop was treated and released.
