Poll: Jets need to start over

The Jets have many culprits to blame after a dismal 6-10 season, and have decisions to make on many key players and coaches, most notably Mark Sanchez. According to a nypost.com poll, 86 percent voted to dump the quarterback — the highest percentage among any of the 37 players listed in the poll.

Fairing slightly better, 25 percent wanted to see backup Tim Tebow return, while 67 percent want Greg McElroy back. Tebow threw just eight passes this season, and rarely was used in offensive packages. McElroy showed signs of life when he replaced Sanchez in Week 13 and led the Jets to a victory. He also started in Week 16 and, despite being sacked 11 times, played decently.

General manager Mike Tannenbaum was fired on Monday, but an overwhelming number of voters also want head coach Rex Ryan (63%), defensive coordinator Mike Pettine (58%) and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano (94%) to hit the road.

Other decisions the Jets could make involve their less-than-stellar wide receivers. Jeremy Kerley (88%) is the receiver most fans want to see return, while Stephen Hill (78%) and Braylon Edwards (66%) were also on the list of players fans want to return. Santonio Holmes (47%), who missed most of the season, and Chaz Shillens (23%) were players fans wouldn’t mind seeing in another uniform next season.

Defensively, fans have had enough of Bart Scott, as only 27 percent want the declining linebacker to return, but 80 percent want Antonio Cromartie to return and 84 percent want Darrelle Revis back.
