Hillary’s hospitalization

Our differences with the Clintons have been many and varied over the years, but today we join with all Americans of good will in wishing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton a full and rapid recovery following her weekend hospitalization.

Mrs. Clinton was admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday. Her office said it was for treatment of a blood clot related to her fall and concussion earlier last month.

Announcement of the concussion, of course, came just before Clinton was scheduled to testify before Congress on the terrorist attacks in Benghazi.

Her testimony was postponed, prompting a wave of skeptical commentary — justifiably so, given the administration’s across-the-board Benghazi prevaricating.

Indeed, yesterday’s blistering Senate report on the State Department’s poor response to mounting security problems in Benghazi raised questions that can only be answered by the secretary of state.

But that can come later. A full recovery is what’s important now.

Despite our differences with her and assorted controversies when she and her husband, Bill Clinton, were in the White House, Hillary Clinton has proven herself a savvy politician and dedicated public servant in her own right.

For eight years, she served the people of New York as their senator; for the last four, she has done yeoman work representing America on the foreign stage and become an inspiration to millions around the world.

Get well soon, Hillary.
