AFC North & NFC South for 2013 Jets

As the Jets miss the playoffs for the second straight year, it’s clear no game is an easy win. But looking ahead to next season’s matchups, which were officially released yesterday with no dates or times set, there may be reason for optimism.

Besides the standard home-and-home series with all three AFC East rivals, the Jets will play the whole of the AFC North. That’s not such an easy task, as all of those teams besides the Browns will probably be in the hunt for the playoffs.

The Jets also get the somewhat good fortune of playing the whole of the NFC South. Only the Falcons (No. 1 seed in the NFC) made the playoffs, with the other three teams finishing 7-9.

The other two games — the Raiders and Titans — are based on the Jets’ third-place finish in the division. The 13 teams the Jets will play next season had a combined record of 102-106.
