5.Jan. 20, 2008 – Lawrence Tynes kicks Giants to Super Bowl Tynes had already missed a game-winning 36-yard kick as time expired in regulation to send the Giants to the Super Bowl when he lined up for a 47-yard attempt in overtime. After a Corey Webster interception of Brett Favre set up the would-be game winner, Tynes drilled the kick to give the Giants the 23-20 upset win over the Packers in a freezing cold game at Lambeau Field. 4.Jan. 22, 2012 – Tynes does it again Four years after his heroics in the NFC Championship game against the Packers, Lawrence Tynes would be called upon again to try and send the Giants to the Super Bowl. Tynes hit a 31-yard field goal to give the Giants a 20-17 win over the 49ers, a moment the kicker had dreamt about the night before. “It’s amazing. I had dreams about this last night. It was from 42, not 31,” Tynes said after the game. Anthony J. Causi

3.Feb. 5, 2012 – Manningham’s Miracle Catch Once again trailing the Patriots late in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, Eli Manning took the reins to lead the Giants down the field for a game-winning drive. With 3:46 remaining and the Giants down 17-15, Manning threw an absolutely perfect pass to Mario Manningham, who brought in the ball and got both feet inbounds for a 38-yard reception. Manningham would make two more catches on the drive before Ahmad Bradshaw scored on a one-yard run to give the Giants a 21-17 lead with under a minute to play. Getty Images

2.Feb. 3, 2008 – Plaxico Comes Through While Tyree’s catch was the most memorable moment from the Giants’ Super Bowl run in 2007, Plaxico Burress made the reception that clinched the victory. With 13 seconds remaining, Eli Manning threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to a wide open Burress to give the Giants a 16-14 lead before Lawrence Tynes converted the extra point to extend the lead to 17-14. 1.Feb. 3, 2008 – Manning to Tyree With 1:15 left to play in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLII and the Giants trailing 14-10, Eli Manning dropped back and looked for an open receiver downfield. After eluding several Patriots defenders, Manning chucked up a pass that was miraculously caught when David Tyree pinned the ball to his helmet at the New England 24-yard line. REUTERS

5.Jan. 11, 2009 – Poor showing from champs While Manning’s interceptions were costly, the Giants offense played poorly overall in their 23-11 loss to Philadelphia. The Giants made it into what Tom Coughlin calls “The Green Zone” three times against the Eagles, but failed to score a touchdown on any of their possessions. John Carney missed two field goals, one from 46 and one from 47 yards out, and the Giants were a combined 4-for-16 on third and fourth down in the game. It was the first time in NFL history that the top-seeded defending Super Bowl champions were eliminated in their first playoff game. Jeff Zelevansky

4.Jan. 11, 2009 – Eli throws the game away In the second home game of his career Eli Manning once again committed costly turnovers. Manning threw one of his two interceptions with the Giants trailing the Eagles 20-11 with just over three minutes left to play. Coming out of the shotgun, Manning threw a pass deep down the middle intended for Steve Smith which was picked off by Eagles safety Quentin Mikell. David Akers would kick a field goal to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 23-11, which would be the final score. ©2009 Kevin P. Coughlin

3.Jan. 7, 2007 – Westbrook leads monster 2nd quarter Same game as the 2nd-worst Giants moment, different Eagles player crushing Big Blue’s heart. With the Giants leading 7-0 in the second quarter, Brian Westbrook broke off a massive 49-yard run that would spark Philadelphia as it outscored the Giants 17-3 in the second quarter to take a 17-10 lead. Westbrook finished with 153 carries and a touchdown on 22 touches in the game. Jeff Zelevansky

1.Jan. 8, 2006 – Eli fails first test Eli Manning wasn’t always the calm, cool, collected big game quarterback he has become after winning two Super Bowls. In fact, he was pretty bad early on in his postseason career. In his first playoff game, Manning turned in a stinker against Jake Delhomme and the Carolina Panthers. In a 23-0 drumming at home against Carolina, Manning turned the ball over four times, including three interceptions. It was the Giants’ first playoff shutout in 20 years. UPI

2.Jan. 7, 2007 – Akers ends Giants season Almost a full calendar year following the embarrassing 23-0 loss to Carolina, the Giants were once again bounced from the playoffs, this time at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. While it was not a blowout, the Giants played from behind for most of the game before tying the game on an Eli Manning pass to Plaxico Burress in the fourth quarter. The late-game heroics were all for naught as Eagles kicker David Akers would send Philadelphia to the next round by nailing a 38-yard field goal as time expired for the 23-20 win. Neil Miller
