Cat caught smuggling contraband to Brazil jail inmates

Forget the boots — put this puss in jail!

An adorable white kitty in northern Brazil was caught trying to sneak into a prison transporting saws, drills and cellphone equipment for prisoners, local media reported.

“It’s difficult to know who is responsible for this, since the cat won’t talk,” officials at the medium-security prison told O Estado de S. Paulo, the country’s largest newspaper.

Prison guards said the cat was secretly raised by inmates at the prison, who gave it to relatives visiting the facility late last year, according to the Correio newspaper.

Then the felonious feline was spotted trying to get back inside to its criminal owners — with the contraband taped around its body.

Prison officials said this is the first time since the facility opened in 2002 that an animal has tried to slip in banned items.

“Usually, this happens with people trying to sneak objects for the inmates,” one official told O Estado.

The cat was sent to a clinic to be treated by a vet.
