Panasonic thinks smart TVs are sexy

Panasonic is raising the IQ of its smart TVs.

Through new apps and content partnerships, the company hopes to makes its Web-connected line of Smart Viera sets stand out from the crowed. (Note the TV in the middle of SmartViera.)

One of its partners this year is Home Shopping Network, whose CEO showed off the company’s new on-demand shopping app at Panasonic’s CES keynote today.

It is a scary thought, but impulse shopping just became a lot easier — like pushing a button easy.

Panasonic also touted its partnership with YouTube, which allows for easy browsing of the app on a mobile device and easy viewing on the bigger screen TV.

While Panasonic didn’t utter the “ultra-definition” word today, the company told us to keep an eye out for such a product at the opening of the convention tomorrow.
