Mulgrew’s million-dollar mess

The Issue: UFT President Mike Mulgrew’s demand for pay raises as part of a deal on a teacher-rating system.

***

Once again, United Federation of Teachers President Mike Mulgrew has shown no limit to how low he can sink (“The Schoolyard Bully,” Editorial, Jan. 7).

Now Mr. Liberal is threatening to forfeit $250 million in state education funds for our children because he refuses to settle on a teacher-evaluation system. On top of that, he is trying to use that leverage for pay raises.

Mulgrew has proven time and time again that it’s all about him and his teachers.

But to take millions of dollars from our kids is disgusting, even for Mulgrew’s standards.

I must take issue with The Post’s editorial criticizing the UFT.

I am not a member of the UFT, but I must note that the prime function of any union is to protect the rights of its workers.

They rightly portray Mayor Bloomberg as a bully who wants things only his way.

Sometimes even a billionaire does not get what he wants. I stand firmly with the union on this issue.Robert Greco
