This is dam stupid.

Seven months after the federal government spent $850,000 to demolish a dam on the Harpeth River in Franklin, Tenn., the Army Corps of Engineers are spending $1.4 million to plan new, smaller dams to hold back floodwaters.

The big dam was removed as a way to improve the river’s ecosystem and make it more accessible to canoeists and fishermen.

If you love whales and can count, Hawaii’s got a job for you.

Officials in the Aloha State have put out a call for volunteers to participate in the annual humpback-whale count.

Participants will be assigned to stand on beaches and keep track of how many times they see whales pop out of the water nearby.

Caleb Grotberg, 32, allegedly used his hair as a weapon — proving once again that dreadlocks don’t choke people, people with dreadlocks choke people.
