Pols’ split decisions

ALBANY — The signs outside the offices of state Sens. Dean Skelos and Jeff Klein yesterday both read “Temporary President of the Senate.”

Welcome to coalition government.

Starting today, GOP leader Skelos, of Long Island, will share power with Klein, of The Bronx, the head of the Senate’s five-member Independent Democratic Conference.

The two will alternate in the ceremonial post of temporary president every two weeks.

Klein officially moved into new digs yesterday on the coveted top floor of Albany’s Legislative Office Building — adjacent to Skelos’s suite.

“Skleinos,” as the duo has been dubbed, will have to agree on what bills go to the Senate floor, as well as appointments and committee assignments.
