Students back fired transgender Queens teacher

Former and current students of St. Francis Preparatory School have come out in support of a beloved teacher who is suing the school, claiming he was booted over his transgender sexual orientation, with one official allegedly saying he was “worse than gay.”

After The Post on Monday reported the plight of ousted teacher Mark Krolikowski, Cristina Guarino, Danielle Cervantes and Alexander Maureau created a petition on the Change.org Web site demanding that officials from the Queens Catholic school “formally apologize to [him] for sexual discrimination.”

As of yesterday, 1,500 supporters had signed the online petition.

“I’m pretty overwhelmed,” said Krolikowski via phone. “I didn’t expect this.”

“Mr. K,” as the students affectionately call him, worked at the Fresh Meadows high school for 32 years and was booted after a freshman’s parent in May 2011 complained to then-principal Leonard Conway about Krolikowski’s appearance.
