NBA: Lakers lose fifth straight game

Tony Parker scored 24 points to help the Spurs beat the visiting Lakers 108-105, sending LA to its fifth straight loss. Kobe Bryant had 27 points for the Lakers (15-20).

Kevin Durant scored 26 points as the Thunder overpowered the Timberwolves 106-84. Minnesota star Kevin Love will miss the next eight to 10 weeks after needing surgery on his right hand. … Jeff Green scored 14 points as the Celtics survived a dreadful 14-point third quarter in an 87-79 win over the visiting Suns.

college: Stony Brook topples Binghamton

Jameel Warney scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Stony Brook (11-4, 2-0 America East) defeated Binghamton 62-37. The Bearcats (2-14, 0-3) lost their 10th consecutive game. … Daquan Brown came off the bench to score 13 points for Hofstra (4-11, 1-1 Colonial) in a 69-54 loss to Delaware (7-8, 2-0).

Etc.: Tiger to make debut at Abu Dhabi

Tiger Woods said he will begin his season next week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. He will make his U.S. debut at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego starting Jan. 24.

The National Hole-in-One Registry says the odds of making two holes-in-one in one round are 67 million to 1. Johnny Taylor, an amateur golfer from Fayetteville, N.C., did so last week at the King’s Grant course in Fayetteville. He used a 7-iron on the 160-yard seventh hole for the first ace and later hit a pitching wedge on the 120-yard 13th hole.

John Isner, the top-ranked American tennis player, withdrew from next week’s Australian Open with a right knee injury.
