A bitter pill for Koch: Obama’s Israel betrayal

The Issue: Ex-Mayor Ed Koch’s disappointment with President Obama’s choice for secretary of defense.

***

Ed Koch is “disappointed” that President Obama reneged on his support for Israel with Sen. Chuck Hagel’s nomination after Koch urged Jews to vote for him in November (“Kicking Israel Around,” Michael Goodwin, Jan. 10).

Did he really think Obama was telling him the truth after the way the president treated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel over the last four years?

Koch is now one of the thousands who have been used and then kicked to the curb when their usefulness is done.

May Koch live long enough to see the destruction he has wrought.

Koch has unfortunately shown the intellectual status of a Jewish Jimmy Carter.

Koch, by calling for the re-election of Obama, has surely led the Jewish voters astray.

The rise of these four horsemen — CIA-head nominee John Brennan, Hagel and secretary of state nominee Sen. John Kerry, led by Obama — certainly gives realistic nightmares to both Christian and Jewish people who love Israel.

I assure you that in the days to come, when Israel is pushed over a cliff militarily, Koch will be awarded the “Robert McNamara Chutzpah & Stupidity Award,” after the former secretary of defense.

I am 82 years old. I have supported Israel since God and Harry Truman created it.

Koch and a majority of the Jews in the United States voted for Obama, knowing full well he does not support Israel.

They voted for Obama for their own personal gain. Israel is secondary to their personal agendas.

I am a Christian. If Israel gets in trouble, why should Christians support Israel when the Jews don’t?
