Today

PREHISTORIC PREVIEW: Opening next weekend at the New Victory Theater, Erth’s “Dinosaur Zoo” features dino puppets so lifelike you’d swear they were the real thing. Not sure if your kid will be more fascinated or freaked out? Head to IKEA for a free “Dino-mite Meet and Greet,” where families can get up close and personal with one of the baby dinosaurs from the show and make their own dinosaur puppets to take home. 1 to 4 p.m., free. 1 Beard St., Red Hook; 646-223-3011, newvictory.org

HIBERNATION STATION: It sure is tough getting out of those warm, cozy PJs on cold winter mornings. Good thing kids get to stay in their jammies for Wave Hill’s “Hibernator’s Den,” where families can spend the morning learning about animals who sleep the season away like bears, toads and hedgehogs, making take-home masks and singing along to Jon Samson’s live tunes. 10 a.m., free. West 249th Street at Independence Avenue, Riverdale; 718-549-3200, wavehill.org

TOMORROW

TWINKIES 4EVER: If you’re one of the many snack-cake fans in denial about Twinkies disappearing, you won’t want to miss “The NYC Twinkie Festival,” where families can try deep-fried Twinkies, make art projects inspired by their favorite cream-filled treat and, most importantly, learn how to bake Twinkies at home! Noon, $12 ($10 in advance), kids under 7 free. 46 Bridge St., between Plymouth and Water streets, DUMBO; fluffstuff.com/festival.htm

GAME ON: Ever dream of buzzing in on a TV game show? Brush up on your trivia for “The Big Family Quiz Thing,” where kids ages 8 and up (parents, too) can compete for fun and prizes. 2 p.m., $20 for adults, $15 for kids (four-person family pack, $60). 92YTribeca, 200 Hudson St., at Canal Street; 212-601-1000, 92y.org/tribeca

ROCK & BOWL: Comedians Seth Herzog and Craig Baldo are back to host another season of “Kidrockers at Brooklyn Bowl,” where real rock bands play cleaned-up versions of their regular set lists (think of it as parent-friendly kids music). Today, DIIV and Windowspeak take the stage. 11:30 a.m., $8 per person. 61 Wythe Ave., at North 11th Street, Williamsburg; 718-963-3369, brooklynbowl.com
