This is not a scene out of the latest Hollywood action flick — it’s a real-life taxi that suddenly went up in flames on the 59th Street Bridge yesterday.
The fast-moving fire sent plumes of thick, black smoke over the East River and shut down traffic in both directions at about 10:15 a.m. The nearly hourlong closing on the Queens-Manhattan crossing at the tail end of the morning rush prompted traffic snarl-ups in both boroughs.
But there was some good news.
No one was injured, officials said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A fire expert told The Post that many car fires start under the hood.
The expert added that taxicabs are prone to overheating, as well.
