Cory’s ‘gay’ epiphany

In a 1992 column in his college newspaper at Stanford University, now-Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker wrote that he was “disgusted by gays” before a transformative experience with a gay-peer counselor changed his views.

Booker said the counselor’s stories of discrimination reminded him of how his grandparents endured racial prejudice.

The Stanford Daily republished the piece as part of an archival series.
