1 dead in 5-alarm SoHo fire

One person is dead and two are injured in a massive five-alarm blaze in SoHo last night, fire officials said.

The fire broke out in the five-story apartment building at 41 Spring St. — which had a Pinkberry on the ground floor — at around 6:40 p.m. and swept through multiple floors.

Onlookers crowded the smoke-filled street, watching as more than 140 firefighters fought the stubborn blaze.

The body was discovered on the third floor of the building, police sources said.

One person suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries while another was suffered minor injuries, fire officials said. Both were taken to New York Hospital in downtown.
