DA weeps at tragedy

Relatives of a Nassau County district-attorney employee were found dead in their Long Island home yesterday, authorities said.

A 73-year-old North Lynbrook woman was discovered dead in her bed — apparently of natural causes — and her husband, 70, shot himself shortly after, authorities said.

The pair had been married for more than 20 years, and were related to a staffer for Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice, officials said.

A teary-eyed Rice spoke to investigators at the scene yesterday, a witness said.

The names of the deceased were not immediately released.

Cops were called after a home health-care aide, unable to get in, called a relative with a key who went in and realized “something was wrong,” a law-enforcement source said.

The medical examiner will perform autopsies on the deceased.

The woman was wheelchair-bound and relied on a ramp to get outside of her home, cops said.

Neighbors said she was rarely seen outside.

“It’s horrible,’’ said Diane Macchia. “I knew his wife was very sick. It’s so sad.’’
