CBS renews 18 shows for next season

Good news for CBS fans – your favorite show will likely be back next season.

The network on Thursday renewed the bulk of its primetime lineup – 18 series – bringing its total number of returning shows to 20 for the 2014-15 season.

Included on the list are nine dramas: “NCIS” and “NCIS: Los Angeles” (a third spinoff is in the works), “Person of Interest,” “CSI” (which is also prepping a spinoff), “Hawaii Five-0,” “Blue Bloods,” “Criminal Minds,” “Elementary” and “The Good Wife.”

Following Wednesday’s three-year renewal for “The Big Bang Theory,” CBS has picked up five more comedies — “2 Broke Girls,” Mike & Molly,” “Two and a Half Men” and first-year sitcoms “The Millers” and “Mom.”

Reality series “Undercover Boss” and “The Amazing Race” will also return (“Survivor” was previously renewed) as well as Sunday night newsmagazine “60 Minutes.”

Left off the list are “The Mentalist,” underperforming freshman dramas “Hostages” and “Intelligence” and the Robin Williams comedy “The Crazy Ones,” whose audience has declined in its move to 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

While any of these could still be picked up for next season, such a move seems unlikely as the network clears room on its schedule for new shows.
