NJ sen. rips ho ‘smears’

WASHINGTON — New Jersey Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez says allegations that he engaged with prostitutes in the Dominican Republic are “smears.”

The allegations appeared on a conservative Web site just before last November’s election but only began to spread last week after the FBI raided the offices of the senator’s biggest donor.

Menendez admitted last night that he flew to the country, but he denied meeting with prostitutes.
