Civil-rights attorneys are trying to halt NYPD surveillance of Muslims, arguing that the practice is illegal without evidence of criminal activity.
According to papers filed at the US District Court in Manhattan yesterday, lawyers are asking a judge to stop the NYPD from observing Muslims in restaurants, bookstores and mosques.
The city maintains that it follows the law and adheres to the Constitution when trying to identify terrorists.
