Fashion buzz: Royalty on the runway

Aristo-catwalk

She may be a Scottish aristocrat, but up-and-coming model Idina Moncreiffe isn’t getting any special treatment at her first New York Fashion Week. The 20-year-old is staying at a “models’ apartment” on East 49th Street, dining on red-velvet cupcakes (two a day) and waiting to see if she is tapped last-minute to walk (likely for free) for a number of shows.

One would expect a girl of her pedigree to be above catwalk hustling: Moncreiffe’s great-great-grandmother Idina Sackville was herself a model (she landed a vogue cover) and infamous for her wild parties and five marriages (and divorces). Moncreiffe’s great-great- grandfather, Josslyn Hay, the Earl of Erroll, was murdered in 1941 — immortalized in the 1987 film “White Mischief” — in an infamous case that was only solved in 2007. Moncreiffe’s father, Peregrine, is the Baron of Easter Moncreiffe.

“It’s a completely different world,” admitted Moncreiffe of her background. “Even at our houses, there are paintings of our ancestors, really old-school paintings, where it looks like the eyes are following you. Not many people can relate.”

Gone appétit!

Super-Svelte designer Kelly Wearstler — who recently came under fire after dishing about her (minimal) diet to Bon Appétit magazine — defended her eating habits to critics. “It was so bizarre,” Wearstler said of the backlash at her book party for “Rhapsody” Wednesday night at the Rug Company Showroom. “I hope I inspire people to be healthy and take care of themselves. Big or skinny, everyone should just be healthy,” she said. Her go-to snacks? Plankton and goji berries, but of course!

Storm troupers

Stye icon Olivia Palermo advises subway-riding gals to “rethink your fashion choices” this snowy weekend. Luckily, Palermo — clad in fur at the La Perla presentation Thursday — doesn’t have to resort to functional footwear: “It depends on how I feel, but it’s great to have an option … I have a driver,” she laughed.

Comedian Aziz Ansari is getting ready to hibernate this weekend, he told Buzz at the Band of Outsiders party at Graydon Carter’s Monkey Bar on Thursday night. “What would be a good place to be snowed in? A Build-a-Bear,” Ansari said. “Just keep building bears. I would probably build an Indian teddy bear to kind of look like me,” he mused. “I would like to have a teddy bear counterpart.”
