Jason Wu

The Who: Despite the initial flurry of snow and sleet, Jaime King, Stephanie Seymour, and Allison Williams were all sitting pretty in Wu’s double-tiered venue. But the real star was the larger-than-life crystal chandelier that hung in the center of the runway.

The What: A corset-like invite (trimmed in black leather) signaled a new era for the FLOTUS’s go-to designer. His signature sweet prim collars and pleated knee-length skirts were still there, but the heroes of the collection were undeniably drop dead sexy: a strapless bustier dress done in snakeskin, a black and red mini-frock with a deep v-neck and cutouts at the hip, even the sweaters were finished with horizontal mesh panels that revealed suggestive strips of flesh.

The Highlight: Wu paired a red pleated peplum top with a tuxedo-inspired stovepipe pant; the top’s vibrant train offered a fresh take on evening wear.

The Takeaway: The young designer has seamlessly grown into this new-found sexy vibe. Work it, Wu.
