Ruffian

The Who: Usual suspects included Steven Kolb, Robert Verdi, Ken Downing and Joe Zee. The 9 a.m. start time didn’t deter Lydia Hearst either, who was there in overalls and a crop top.

The What: Designers Claude Morais and Brian Wolk offered what some collections have been lacking lately: variety. There were mini skirts (jacquard and beaded), men’s inspired shirts (in grey, white and navy) and looks fit for the sophisticate (English tailored suits) and her party girl best friend (dresses marked by florals, sequins and ruched silk). Runway tumbles were avoided, thanks to footwear designed in collaboration with Frye.

The Highlight: The background music was a perfect fit — “The Things That Dreams Are Made Of” by The Human League.

The Takeaway: Morias and Wolk called their collection “Reverie” — I would, too.
