Pierre-Paul: Giants ‘can’t BS around this year’

Jason Pierre-Paul has been with the Giants for three seasons and won a Super Bowl in one of them. But he says he’s tired of what he perceives as far too much inconsistency.

“We can’t BS around this year,’’ Pierre-Paul said last night at a charity dinner at Umberto’s of New Hyde Park. “The falling down, and going up, that stinks, you know what I mean? Because it’s like every year it happens, every year. Now I haven’t been here for the previous years but when I’ve been on this team, since I’ve been on this team, it stinks.

“The Super Bowl run was just the same thing. It just so happened that we picked it up the last minute and we took a run for our money and we got everybody, we got on track and we took everybody down, and it was a great feeling.

“You can’t BS around. you get tired of it.’’

In order for the Giants to return to the playoffs, Pierre-Paul has to improve on his 6 1/2-sack season, a drop-off of 10 sacks from the previous year. Coach Tom Coughlin, speaking of Pierre-Paul last month at the NFL owners meetings told The Post, “He didn’t play as well as the year before … He was big when he came to camp. There’s not a lot of body fat [with Pierre-Paul], yes, but still …”

Pierre-Paul does not agree.

“I was always in great shape,’’ he said. “I’m still the same size this year. People say I look slimmer but I’m the same weight. I don’t know what they see in their eyes. I was not big last year. I was 273 and I’m 274 now. … If they want me to lose weight, I can do it that fast.’’

* Justin Tuck said he was not surprised restricted free agent Victor Cruz has stayed away from the off-season workout program, and he doesn’t really care if Cruz never shows.

“Victor has to do what Victor thinks is best for Victor and he doesn’t have to answer to anybody else,’’ Tuck said. “He’s his own man. At the end of the day, I don’t care if he misses all the workout program. As long as he’s there on … What day do we open up? That Sunday. Whatever day that is, if I see No. 80 with the New York Giants, then I’m cool with that.’’
