Giants punter uses replica Super Bowl trophy to inspire students

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A New York Giants punter has loaned his replica of the Lombardi Trophy to Terre Haute’s schools in hopes of inspiring students to reach for their dreams.

Terre Haute native Steve Weatherford had the replica made after the Giants defeated the New England Patriots in the 2012 Super Bowl.

Weatherford tells the Tribune-Star he decided to loan the replica to the school district because he wants children to realize “there are no goals that are too lofty.”

He credits Superintendent Paul Tanoos and other mentors for his success and says he wants to share that with the community.

Weatherford plans to visit Terre Haute in May for a fundraiser.
