Life eyed on planets

Two planets whose size and position suggest they may support life have been found, astronomers revealed yesterday.

The planets orbit a far-away star named Kepler-62 at just the right distance for water and life to exist — making them what scientists call Goldilocks planets, says research published online by the journal Science.

The planet hunters, led by NASA’s William Borucki, say they won’t know what the heavenly bodies look like or if they are habitable until their atmospheres are analyzed.

The planets were found with NASA’s Kepler satellite, launched in 2009 to find Earth-like planets.
