Son confesses to ‘brutally killing mom on Christmas Eve’

A high school baseball star confessed to the horrific Christmas Eve murder of his mother, who he beat with a baseball bat and left in the family’s home with a large kitchen knife sticking out of her eye socket, the Northwest Florida Daily News reported.

William Brandon Aydelott, 17, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with premeditated murder in the death of his mother, Sharon Aydelott, a teacher at a nearby middle school in Gulf Breeze.

“It was very brutal, very heinous,” Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Rich Aloy told The Pensacola News Journal. “Brutal is the only way to describe it.”

Aydelott fled the Gulf Breeze house after the murder and agreed to come in for questioning after he was found at a nearby home where he had been living since September when the teen and his mom started fighting, the NWF Daily News reported.

When cops questioned him, Aydelott smiled a few times but otherwise appeared calm and emotionless, the newspaper said.

Aydelott was a right-handed pitcher who could throw 80 miles per hour and was being scouted by some college teams, the Daily Mail reported.
