Tebow arrives early to Jets workouts

Tim Tebow wasted no time showing the Jets he is ready to work until they let him go.

Tebow arrived at the Jets’ training center for the start of the team’s voluntary offseason program before 6:30 a.m. yesterday, 90 minutes before coach Rex Ryan addressed the team.

Tebow did not speak to reporters.

The Jets were expected to have released Tebow by now, but general manager John Idzik has held on to the popular quarterback, possibly still holding out hope of finding a trade partner to give the Jets something in return for Tebow rather than just releasing him.

The Jets currently have five quarterbacks on their roster: Tebow, Mark Sanchez, David Garrard, Greg McElroy and Matt Simms.

* WR Santonio Holmes was a no-show for the workouts, as The Post reported he would be last week. Holmes is currently taking classes and rehabbing his surgically repaired foot at Ohio State.

* What was Ryan’s message to the team?

“At the end of the day we just have to be more physical,” Muhammad Wilkerson said of the coach’s first speech of the year. “More physical than everybody and as of right now we have to get strong as a team and focus on the little things so come September we’re ready to go.”

* Tackle Austin Howard, who was a restricted free agent, signed his one-year, $2 million tender and attended the first day of workouts.
