Tea Party’s tempest over ObamaCare pick

WASHINGTON — Conservative groups yesterday blasted the Obama administration for putting the Internal Revenue Service boss who let agents target them in charge of the tax agency’s powerful health-care office.

Attorneys for the Tea Party Patriots, the country’s largest Tea Party organization, sent a letter to the IRS chief counsel demanding the firing of Sarah Hall Ingram, who was promoted to the ObamaCare tax office before the scandal broke.

“We certainly do not trust Sarah Hall Ingram to be anywhere near our incredibly sensitive health-care decisions,” said Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the group.

“It appears the administration has rewarded her for allowing the discriminatory actions rather than disciplining her. She must be terminated or resign immediately for her disgraceful actions.”

The letter also demanded the IRS counsel preserve all documents, emails, phone records, and other correspondence related to the targeting of Tea Party groups.

Americans for Prosperity, a national group promoting limited government and free-market policies, also slammed Ingram’s promotion.

“It’s clear that individuals within the IRS cannot be trusted to fairly and equitably apply the law when it comes to tax status,” said Tim Phillips, the group’s president. “It would be truly outrageous to further enable those same individuals to police the health care decisions of our children and families.”
