MONTCLAIR, NJ — Authorities say a shooting that left two people dead in a northern New Jersey park appears to be isolated and doesn’t pose a threat to the community.
Essex County Chief of Detectives Anthony Ambrose says the man and the women were found near a bench in Montclair’s Canterbury Park around 10 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities are awaiting autopsy and ballistics results.
Officials will release the names of the dead once their relatives are notified.
A man told Fox 5 News that the female victim and his daughter are cousins.
“She used to go to church religiously. She’s highly educated and just a nice person. This is sad,”said Kurt Holloway.
The female victim was in her 20s and lived in East Orange, NJ, Holloway told Fox 5.
