TLC lifts the veil on holiday ‘Obsessions’

And you thought you had some strange habits.

Just in time for the holidays, TLC will air “My Crazy Obsession: Christmas Collection 2,” which features a bunch of folks with just-plain-weird yuletide behavior.

Included in the special, airing Dec. 7 (9 p.m.), are four different sets of people who celebrate Christmas with just a little too much gusto.

Tamera Holland with her pal, Miss Ginger.

There’s Tim Gay, who lives in upstate Legrangeville. He’s so enamored with Christmas lights that he’s set a world record for his brilliant display (and probably a world record for an electric bill).

And don’t forget the special’s most memorable oddball — Tamera Holland of Altavista, Va., who’s so obsessed with gingerbread that she even smokes it — and often makes her favorite recipe (a sausage-and-gingerbread casserole). Oh, and she keeps a 150-pound barrel of the stuff in her house — when she’s not reading to her stuffed gingerbread doll, Miss Ginger, who’s her occasional driving partner (Miss Ginger sits next to Tamera, of course).

You’ll also meet Kris and Harold Eisenberger of Indiana, Pa. — who have an (unhealthy?) obsession with Santa Claus, much to the chagrin of their kids. The Eisenbergers plan to move their growing collection of Santa Claus dolls, mugs, etc. into the kids’ rooms when they go off to college.

There’s also Andy Park, who lives across the pond in Wiltshire, England. He celebrates Christmas every day of the year — buying himself gifts every day (including a Mercedes Benz).

None of this behavior should be too surprising to viewers of TLC, which features a regular programming diet of strange human emotional and physical oddities.

Happy holidays.
