The future of Shelly Silver: It’s time for him to go

The Issue: Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s handling of harassment charges against Assemblyman Vito Lopez.

***

When is Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver going to be the target of his own investigation (“The Enablers,” Editorial, May 16)?

His back-room deals that made Assemblyman Vito Lopez’s crimes disappear for months cannot be tolerated.

Silver has to be stopped. This is one initiative for which I would not mind putting my tax dollars to work.

Thank you for this interesting editorial.

The women in Silver’s life must be so proud of him for condoning the disgusting acts of Lopez.

Let’s hope his daughters and granddaughters never find themselves in the position of looking for justice from politicians if they should ever become victims of sexual predators like Lopez. Silver has given a free pass to such activity.

It’s time for a clean slate in Albany.

Somebody should say to Silver what L.S. Amery said to Neville Chamberlain in Parliament, when he quoted Oliver Cromwell: “You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!” Gary Schwartz

Gov. Cuomo should be judged based on whether he rectifies the Lopez scandal and breaks up Albany Democrats’ ol’-boys club and ends Silver’s tenure.
